How accurate is it?
It is a planning estimate, not a guarantee. Battery age, temperature, cable losses and inverter behaviour all move the real number, so keep a margin — especially in a cold snap.
Does it measure anything with the phone?
No. No sensor, no meter, no link to your inverter. The estimate is built from the specs you entered, the appliances you checked and your logged outages.
Why is the estimate lower than the simple arithmetic?
Capacity divided by watts overstates what a lead-acid battery delivers under a heavy load. Backup Hours applies the Peukert relationship and stops at the depth of discharge you set.
Can I count on it for equipment that cannot lose power?
No. Do not use it for medical equipment or anything else that must not stop. It is a planning tool for household outages, cottages, RVs and off-grid cabins.
Does it work without cell service?
Yes. Everything is calculated on the iPhone — no account, no sign-in, nothing to connect to.
