How close is the remaining time?
It is an estimate for planning, not a promise. Battery condition, heat, cable losses and your inverter's own behaviour all move the real number, so leave yourself a buffer.
Is the phone measuring anything?
No. There is no sensor and no connection to the inverter. Everything comes from the specs you entered, the appliances you ticked and the blackouts you have logged.
Why is the figure lower than capacity divided by watts?
Because that sum is generous under a heavy draw. Backup Hours applies the Peukert relationship and respects the depth of discharge you set instead of assuming you will flatten the bank.
Can I trust it for gear that must stay on?
No. Do not rely on it for medical equipment or anything life-critical. It is built for household blackouts, caravans, boats and off-grid sheds.
Does it need reception?
Not at all, which is the whole idea when the network is down too. It all runs on the iPhone, with no account and no login.
