Do I need AR or a camera to measure my stairs?
No. StairStepScan has no AR feature and never uses the camera. You measure the total rise yourself with a tape measure and type that one number into the app — that's the entire input.
Can I enter measurements in feet and inches?
Yes. Switch to feet-and-inches in Settings and every screen, including the cut list, shows proper sixteenth-inch fractions instead of decimals.
Can it calculate winder stairs or a spiral staircase?
No. StairStepScan handles straight stairs only — that focus is what keeps the answer to one measured height and lets it come back in under a minute. It does not attempt curved or winding layouts.
Does the app need an internet connection?
No. It never makes a network request, so it works exactly the same with Wi-Fi and cellular both off. There is nothing to sync and nothing that could fail to load.
Is the result guaranteed to meet my local building code?
No, and the app is careful never to say that. The comfort ranges it starts from are editable defaults, not building regulations, and rules differ by region. Always check your local code and structural requirements before you build.
Is there a subscription or in-app purchase?
No. StairStepScan is a single one-time purchase. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase, no account and no ads.
