How accurate are the dates?
The dates are computed astronomically from the sun's position along the ecliptic (solar longitude), the same principle used by official almanacs in Japan. Each season's start date is calculated for the current year rather than taken from a fixed table, so it stays accurate year after year.
Does the app work offline?
Yes, completely. All astronomical calculations run on your device, so the app never needs an internet connection — not even once.
Does it need my location or an account?
No. The app requests no permissions at all — no location, no notifications, no tracking — and there is nothing to sign up for. It collects no data whatsoever.
What are the 72 seasons (shichijūniko)?
In the traditional Japanese calendar, the year is divided into 24 solar terms (sekki), and each of those into three micro-seasons of about five days — 72 in all. Each has a poetic name describing a small change in nature, such as "East wind melts the ice" or "Mist starts to linger."
