Getting started

Choose a song

Pick a built-in song, or photograph your paper sheet music and let AI recognition import it.

Just play

Recording starts automatically when you play the first note. The score can follow along as you go.

Collect your stars

When you finish, AI scores your performance and awards stars. Listen back, retry, or share the result.

Frequently asked questions

Which pianos does PianoStar work with?
Any piano that makes sound: acoustic grand or upright pianos, digital pianos, and keyboards. PianoStar listens through the device microphone, so no cables or MIDI connection are needed.
How does the AI scoring work?
After you finish playing, PianoStar compares your recorded performance with the score using audio analysis — note accuracy, rhythm steadiness, and tempo stability — and turns the result into a score with stars.
Can it read my paper sheet music?
Yes. Photograph the pages with your camera and AI recognition converts them into an interactive score. Multi-page scores are supported. Recognition accuracy depends on print quality; you can edit notes afterwards.
Where are my recordings stored?
Recordings and practice history are stored on your device. They are not uploaded anywhere. You can delete them at any time.
Why does the app need microphone access?
The microphone is used only to listen to your piano while you practice, so the app can follow your playing and score it. Audio is analyzed for scoring and saved on your device only.
Does PianoStar need an internet connection?
Practicing, scoring and playback work offline. An internet connection is used only when recognizing photographed sheet music.
The score didn't start following my playing. What can I do?
Make sure the device microphone is not covered, reduce background noise such as conversation or TV, and try playing a few notes clearly. You can also drag the score sideways to restart from any spot.
