Marine Bearing Compass Tool
Marine Bearing Compass Tool
Sight, read and log a heading
Download on the App StoreHold your phone up at eye level and aim at a lighthouse, buoy, vessel or peak. The vertical card turns behind dome glass, damped like the real instrument, and the lubber line reads your bearing — true or magnetic.
One tap records the bearing with exact time. Add a label, keep a log, share it as plain text. HOLD freezes the reading while you write it down.
Back bearing always at hand — the reciprocal (180°) appears without arithmetic, just as on the real instrument.
Night mode: deep red illumination that preserves your night vision, just like the lamp on a real hand bearing compass.
Accuracy chip always visible. Calibration guide shows when to check the compass against a known landmark. Verify before you rely on it.
The phone's magnetic sensor is affected by nearby metal and electronics. Compare your readings against a known landmark to be sure. Base navigation decisions on your vessel's proper instruments and official information.
Like a real hand bearing compass: hold your phone up at eye level, aim at your target (lighthouse, buoy, peak, vessel), and read the bearing off the vertical card in the center of the screen. The card stays level — you're just changing your viewing angle.
