How to use
Choose a direction
Tap the down arrow for a countdown, or the up arrow to count up from zero.
Enter the time
Use the keypad to type hours, minutes and seconds, just like a calculator.
Start the timer
Tap the green play button. The timer begins and a Live Activity appears on your Lock Screen.
Pause or reset
Tap the button to pause and resume. Use the delete key to reset back to zero.
Stop the alert
When time is up, tap the stop button to silence the sound and vibration.
Frequently asked questions
Does the timer keep running when the app is closed?
Yes. The time is based on the real clock, so it stays accurate in the background. You'll also get a notification when it finishes.
Why don't I see the Live Activity?
Make sure Live Activities are enabled in Settings ▸ UpDownTimer, and that your device runs a recent version of iOS that supports Live Activities.
The alarm doesn't make a sound. What can I do?
Check that notifications are allowed for UpDownTimer and that your device is not in a mode that blocks sound. The app plays the alert even with the silent switch on while it is open.
Can I use it on iPad?
Yes, UpDownTimer is a universal app and works on both iPhone and iPad.
