Where do the wind forecasts come from?
Tailwind Drive uses Open-Meteo forecasts. The forecast is sampled along your actual driving route and matched to the time you'd pass each stretch, so the wind you see is the wind you'd actually meet — up to 48 hours ahead.
Does Tailwind Drive collect my data?
We don't collect data that identifies you. Your saved trips, vehicle profiles, and settings stay on your device. To get the forecast, the coordinates along your route are sent to the Open-Meteo weather service — nothing else. No account, no ads, no tracking.
How accurate are the fuel and range estimates?
The estimates are planning aids based on aerodynamic models applied to the wind forecast. They're meant to compare departure times and highlight risky stretches — actual consumption varies with traffic, speed, and terrain, so always keep a sensible margin, especially for EV charging stops.
Which vehicles are supported?
Tailwind Drive includes profiles for EVs, gas cars, SUVs, vans, campers/RVs, cars with trailers, and motorcycles. Each profile has its own aerodynamic sensitivity, and the crosswind ratings are tuned to the profile you choose.
Is it really a one-time purchase?
