SwimStart: Block Reaction
The race is decided before you hit the water. SwimStart times the gap between the signal and your take-off, so you can cut it down rep after rep.

The Start Sequence, Exactly as It Runs
Countdown, the "Take your marks" command, then the start tone. The pause after the command is randomized every time, so there's no rhythm to memorize and anticipate. Move too early and it's logged as a false start.
Timed to the Millisecond
Reaction time is measured on a monotonic clock, so your device's date and time settings never skew it. Today's number can be compared directly against one you set six months ago.
Follow Your Progress in Numbers
Every attempt is saved with the date, the reaction time and whether it was a false start. Your best, your average and your false start count are visible at a glance, with the full history kept in one list.
Set Up Around Your Practice
Turn the spoken "Take your marks" command on or off. Set the length of the countdown and the range of the random delay before the signal.
Touch or Motion Detection
Tap the screen to react, or set the device on the starting block and let motion detection catch the movement. Practise in whichever form is closest to your real take-off.
Runs on Apple Watch on Its Own
It's a standalone Apple Watch app, so your iPhone can stay in your bag. Practice, records and settings all happen on your wrist. The cue comes through as a vibration as well as a sound, so you'll catch it even when a noisy pool deck drowns out the tone.
No Account, Records Stay on Your Device
No sign-up, no login. Install it and take your first attempt right away. Your records are kept on your device and nowhere else.
The race is decided before you reach the water. SwimStart is a start-reaction trainer for swimmers: rehearse the start off the block, measure how long it takes you to move after the signal, and trim that number down.
THE FULL START SEQUENCE
• A countdown, then the "Take your marks" call, then the start tone
• The hold after the call is randomized, so the timing cannot be memorized
• Reaction time is measured on a monotonic clock, so your numbers compare fairly
• Move before the tone and it is flagged as a false start — the same as at a meet
WATCH YOUR PROGRESS
• Every attempt is saved with its date, reaction time and false-start flag
• Your best time, your average and the number of false starts, at a glance
• The complete attempt history in a single list
SET IT UP THE WAY YOU TRAIN
• Turn the spoken "Take your marks" cue on or off
• Set the countdown length and the range of the wait before the signal
• Choose touch or motion: tap the screen, or stand the device up and move it
ALSO ON APPLE WATCH
• A standalone Apple Watch app — the phone can stay in your bag
• Practice, records and settings right from your wrist
• A haptic cue alongside the sound, which helps on a noisy pool deck

SwimStart is a training aid. It measures your reaction to a signal from your phone or watch and does not replace official starting equipment or a competition timing system.
