Features

See the sun path on your camera
Hold your phone up and SunGapAim draws today's full sun arc right over the camera view, with a marker for where the sun is at the moment you chose. Indoors, or with the camera off, the same path appears on a sky dome.
Slide time, watch the sun move
Slide the time and watch the marker move along the arc. Pick another date to check the light in a different season, right down to the hour.
Read the whole day
Sunrise and sunset times, and how high the sun climbs. An hour-by-hour bar shows sun elevation for the whole day at a glance.
Compare seasons
Summer and winter sun paths side by side. See exactly how the season changes the light.
Save multiple spots
Keep a garden bed, a roof, a balcony — or a dozen. Come back to any of them and check a new date in seconds.
Honest about what it shows
Sun positions are calculated from your location and the date, not measured. Whether a wall or tree blocks that light is something you judge with your own eyes through the camera.

FAQ

Do I need to allow camera access?
No. If you deny or skip camera permission, SunGapAim still works fully using the sky dome view, which shows the same sun path and marker without the camera feed behind it.
Are the sun positions accurate?
Sun positions are calculated using your location and the date, based on the same solar position equations used by NOAA, and match published sunrise and sunset times within a minute or two. They are calculated values, not measured with a sensor.
Does the app tell me if a spot is shaded?
No. SunGapAim shows you where the sun is and will be, but it does not detect walls, trees, or buildings. Whether something blocks the sun at your spot is something you judge yourself by looking through the camera view while the sun path is overlaid on it.
What happens on a simulator or a device without a camera?
SunGapAim automatically falls back to the sky dome view, which shows the identical sun path and position marker without needing a live camera feed.
Is my camera video recorded or shared?
No. The camera feed is only shown live on your screen as a background for the sun path overlay. It is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere.
Can I check the sun at a different date, not just today?
Yes. Pick any date and time and the arc, marker, sunrise/sunset times, and elevation timeline all update to match.
Does this work offline?
Yes, completely. SunGapAim calculates everything on your device. No internet connection is needed.
Is my location data shared?
No. SunGapAim stores your saved spots and their locations only on your device. No data is sent to any server, no analytics, no tracking. Location is used only on-device to calculate sun position.
