  A 3D frame you can spin around

  All five layers — decking boards, joists, beams, posts and stumps — drawn in 3D. Drag to rotate, pinch to zoom. The legend explains each part in plain language, so you don't need to know the jargon to read the structure.

  Board direction changes the count

  Running the decking along the depth or the width changes how many boards you need. On a 3.6 x 5.2 m deck that's 70 boards versus 40. Both counts show before you choose.

  Stump length worked out from deck height

  What you actually decide is the finished height off the ground. The app subtracts stump, beam, joist and board thickness to get the stump length, and tells you why when a height is too low to build.

  Plan drawing and real timber sizes

  A dimensioned plan shows the actual spacing of beams and joists. The material table lists real section sizes, so you can see that a "2x8" is 38 x 184 mm before you order.

• 05

  AR or typed dimensions

  Tap the corners of your yard in AR, or type the dimensions straight in. Every feature works fine without an AR-capable device.
