How do I measure shrinkage?
Mark a line 100 mm long on your test bar when it's wet. Measure it again after bone-dry stage, after bisque, and after final firing. Record all four measurements in ClayFit. The app works out shrinkage at each step.
Why does my shrinkage differ from the manufacturer spec?
Shrinkage depends on firing temperature, kiln atmosphere, clay batch, and where the piece sits in the kiln. Manufacturer figures are for standard conditions. Your kiln is unique. Use your own measurements.
What's the limit in the free version?
You can record up to 3 clay bodies, unlimited firing profiles and measurements per clay. The calculator and home screen widget work fully. CSV export is in the paid version.
Where is my data stored?
All measurements and clay records stay on your device. ClayFit never sends data to a server, never requires an account, and never connects to the network. The only internet connection is to process your app purchase.
Does this guarantee my finished dimensions?
No. ClayFit estimates based on linear shrinkage alone. Real pieces vary with wall thickness, how you throw, drying conditions, and kiln shelf position. Always test a new batch with a test bar first.
